The Journey

Days

1 2 3

Day 1
Christchurch to Methven

Distance 80km - Driving Time 1 hour 30 mins

Packed our Britz Frontier Campervan and hit the road in the evening. On arriving in Methven, we checked in at Methven Camping Ground, who were very helpful in helping us get set up for the night. Had a couple of stouts and an amazing dinner at The Dubliner - the dry rubbed baby back ribs with spiced orange glaze was seriously good!

Day 2
Methven to Lake Heron

Distance 72km - Driving Time 1 hour 30 mins

Woke up early morning and caught the Methven Travel Ski Bus to Mt Hutt. Was our first ski of the season, and had an epic day. Lunch at Huber’s Hut was great - try the Mulled Ginger Beer. On returning to Methven, we met up with the rest of the group, and just had to go back to The Dubliner for more! After that, we made our way to Lake Heron.

Day 3
Lake Heron to Christchurch

Distance 152km - Driving Time 2 hours 30 mins

We were hoping to get great photos at the lake, however, the weather had different plans. So we retreated to the campervan for some ready mix pancakes cooked in the really well-equipped kitchen. We then hit the road again to Terrace Downs for Clay Bird Shooting. Heaps of fun shooting clays, and Neil was such a great coach! After Terrace Downs, it was time to head home to Christchurch.
