Vote for the Britz Player of the Week

Britz is proud to present the Britz Player of the Week competition.

In conjunction with Auckland Rugby, Britz is giving you the chance to vote for who you think should be the Britz Player of the Week, every week throughout the Premier Grade season. The Player of the Week winner will receive a great Britz Campervan Holiday.

This week's players are:
Cory Elley from Marist RFC
Jason Guthrie from Papatoetoe RFC.
Emani Tuimauga from Otahuhu RFC.

A little background on this week's nominations for Britz Player of the Week:

Britz Player of the Week

Name: Cory Elley
Position: Number 8, Blindside or Lock
Club: Marist RFC

Cory joined Marist this year and has quickly cemented his place as an integral member of the Marist Premier side. Playing at blindside, lock or number 8, the 23 year old is the quintessential utility forward. Hard running, aggressive defence, and a strong lineout option keeps Cory on the playing field and at the top of our selection list. Outside of rugby, Cory enjoys taking part in basketball and karaoke.

 

1. Where was your favourite place in NZ to visit when you were a kid? And why?
Westport for the beaches & peace & quiet

2. What’s your hot tip for travelling in NZ (i.e. best ice-creams, best fish & chips, best swimming hole etc)?
Buller Café Westport for the best fish n chips

3. If you are named Britz Club Player of the Week, where would you like to go on your Britz getaway? And why?
Far North for the beaches & fishing

4. Who would you like to take on your Britz shortbreak? And why?
The rest of the team

5. What are the three things you always take on a road trip?
Panadol, Powerade & clean undies

6. Favourite road trip food?
Mince n Cheese pies

 

Britz Player of the Week

Name: Jason Guthrie
Position: Halfback
Club: Papatoetoe RFC

Jason Guthrie is a born and bred Papatoetoe boy who first played for the club as a 6 year old, playing through the grades until he went to Papatoetoe High School. After school Jason took a short break from Papatoetoe rugby as he endeavored to further his career. After 2 years Jason returned to the club, where he has been outstanding as the Premier halfback. He has gone on to play for the Auckland B and Sevens side, and is also a very accomplished cricketer.

 

1. Where was your favourite place in NZ to visit when you were a kid? And why?
Waihi beach, great family holidays

2. What’s your hot tip for travelling in NZ (i.e. best ice-creams, best fish & chips, best swimming hole etc)?
Never forget your chilly bin

3. If you are named Britz Club Player of the Week, where would you like to go on your Britz getaway? And why?
Queenstown – Awesome place, awesome tourists

4. Who would you like to take on your Britz shortbreak? And why?
My forward pack as they would have helped me win it

5. What are the three things you always take on a road trip?
Chilly bin, phone, cashflow card

6. Favourite road trip food?
Ferg Burger, Queenstown

 

Britz Player of the Week

Name: Emani Tuimauga
Position: Fullback/wing
Club: Otahuhu RFC

Emani is in his second year with the Otahuhu club and last season was one of the most consistent, playing in every game. A very reliable defender and a strong leader, the 26 year old hopes to continue his form and lead a very young backline. Emani was also the ARFU top point scorer last year and is an important asset to the club.

 

1. Where was your favourite place in NZ to visit when you were a kid? And why?
Mt Maunganui, I just remember the beautiful beach and surroundings

2. What’s your hot tip for travelling in NZ (i.e. best ice-creams, best fish & chips, best swimming hole etc)?
Got to try the various camp sites in NZ, awesome experiences

3. If you are named Britz Club Player of the Week, where would you like to go on your Britz getaway? And why?
Queenstown because I’ve never been

4. Who would you like to take on your Britz shortbreak? And why?
My partner, because she’ll hold it against me if I didn’t

5. What are the three things you always take on a road trip?
Ipod, snacks and light beverages

6. Favourite road trip food?
Anything with chicken in it
